What is Gold Filled jewelry and how to Care for it?
Gold filled jewelry is composed of solid layers of real mainly consisting of 5% total weight. The real gold is bonded mechanically to a base of sterling silver to make the jewelry thicker than gold plated. This allows the gold-filled jewelry to last for years longer, and it is more affordable than solid gold today.
Caring for gold filled jewelry is not hard to do. You can swim and bathe in your gold-filled jewelry however overtime the wire used will begin to fray and or break and need a repair. You can soak them in a non-abrasive detergent and a soft toothbrush to clean and let dry before wiping with jewelry cloth.
Sterling Silver
In order for sterling silver jewelry to not tarnish it has to be stored in a dry, cool place and away from harsh chemicals. You can also wear I as often as you want, and it will keep its gorgeous shine. You can use normal soap and a soft toothbrush to lightly remove any dirt. You can use your jewelry cloth to bring back the luster.
